I contacted Kevin back in 2018. I had been following my own training plan and had completed a couple of marathons but there was no consistency in my training, and I was making very little progress.

I started on a weekly plan which included meeting for a one to one session and scheduled workouts for the rest of the week, and saw an almost immediate improvement in my running fitness.

I achieved my initial goal in the first few months but the biggest improvements and gains have come in the months and years that have followed, where I’ve seen huge improvements at every distance.

Each workout is specifically designed with the individual runner in mind. There are no generic plans, they are all completely personalised depending on the specific goals and capabilities of the individual.  As a result the workouts are challenging yet always enjoyable.

Kevin is also always at the end of the phone to answer any questions and offer advice and feedback.

I started working with Kevin English for coaching help in December 2021. Up to that point I had been running evens but in particular my favorite events which are road marathons for about 15 years.

Through my own training I had managed to get my pb to a 3.06, back in 2017 and 2019 but there was no doubt I was finding it difficult to get any quicker! I had plateaued in relation to marathon pbs. However, a friend of mine started working with Kevin back in early 2020 and he had seen great improvements in his running, and he recommended I get in touch with Kevin to see if he could also help me.

I was slightly apprehensive at first, as running to me has always been about freedom from normal life and enjoyment with no pressure attached so I was worried I would put myself under pressure trying to stick to a plan on top of normal life commitments that everyone has.

I had worried needlessly. From the very start of the coaching, Kevin’s approach to my running has been about challenging myself but also very much about continuing to enjoy my running. It would be safe to say I can’t ever remember a time that I enjoyed training so much. Having a structured plan helps me work my running around my life and Kevin’s easy going with gentle encouragement approach means there is no pressure.

I have found his plans to be appropriately challenging and confidence building, and I genuinely look forward to the weekly plan arriving! Since I started with Kevin, I have run a sub 3-hour marathon after only 4 months of coaching. My wish had been to break 3.05 but after 4 months coaching and guidance, I ran a 2.59 in Manchester marathon 2021.

I had never really felt confident that I would ever break this milestone in marathon running but thanks to Kevin I have, and it was a wonderful feeling. I have also knocked over 2 mins off my half marathon pb and my ten-mile pb fell this year also under Kevin’s coaching, guidance and support.

Kevin is very knowledgeable and evidently enthusiastic about this wonderful sport of ours. I am very much looking forward to setting new targets over different distances with Kevin’s help!

For anyone who is stuck in a running rut, wants to set a new target, or even take the sport up I would fully recommend Kevin as the coach to help them do just that. And I am very grateful to that running friend who encouraged me to take this coaching step.

I approached Kevin in March of 2020 hoping to reignite some enjoyment and build consistency in my running. I was very much out of shape and struggling with training. With 3 young kids and a busy job I feared that my PB days were behind me. Within the space of 6 months, I had taken my 5k time from 21 minutes to a PB of 17.32 and set a PB at the half marathon distance. 

My ultimate dream was to break 3 hours for the marathon, and I finished the Cork marathon this year in 2.53.

Kevin doesn't just give me a template training plan; each week is tailored to my needs and goals. All of the uncertainty and overthinking sessions has been removed - all I have to do is get out the door and tick off the sessions. 

I'm excited to keep progressing and hitting PBs under Kevins guidance, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
